How to create a new pricing tier
A pricing tier can be assigned or restricted to one or more customer tags. Also, you can assign the same tag to one or more customers.
There are two modes:
- Pricing tier by products, or
- Pricing tier by categories
Pricing tier by products
Requirements:
- Limit a pricing tier to a customer tag
- Assign this customer tag to one or more customers that are eligible for this particular pricing tier
To create a new pricing tier by products:
- Go to the Sales menu, then "Promotions & pricing tiers"
- Click on "New promotion"
- Choose "Price tier by products" from the list of promotion types
- Enter a meaningfully name, for example: Tier1 By Products
- Choose the date range for this tier pricing to be in effect
- Important: choose the customer tags that apply to this tier, for example Tier1. Who receives this pricing tier is determined by a customer tag that is set here.
Note, if a tag is not available, it can be added by either clicking on the pencil icon next to the drop down box (see below) or from the Settings then Tags page.
- Click "Add products"
- On the products selection page, tick one or more products and click "Save & continue"
At this stage, it's good to decide whether you need to have percentages or fixed prices
- If a percentage discount is desired, enter it
- Otherwise, click "Edit fixed prices" to enter the selling prices
Use the Download and Upload methods:
Once a pricing tier has been saved, clicking the Download button will export all of the products (in this tier) into a spreadsheet. The benefit of this is that using a smart spreadsheet tool like Excel, you can edit a large number of product lines as well as have calculation formulas.
When you are happy to save the changes, re-upload the spreadsheet file by clicking on the Upload button.
Assign customer tags
To assign tags or pricing tier tags to a customer, edit the customer's card file, then choose or type in the tag name (top right).
Pricing tier by categories
To create a new pricing tier:
- Go to the Sales menu, then "Promotions & pricing tiers"
- Click on "New promotion"
- Choose "Price tier by categories" from the list of promotion types
- Enter a meaningfully name, for example: Tier1 By Categories
- Choose the date range for this tier pricing to be in effect
- Choose the customer tags that apply to this tier, for example Tier1
Note, if a tag is not available, it can be created from the Settings then Tags page
- Click "Add category"
- Select a category
- Enter a percentage discount value
- Click Save
