Overview on products
In Qblue Inventory, there are list or parent products and sku variations.
List/parent products can have multiple different variations. They are the products that you see on most product-listing e-commerce sites.
Sku variations are the actual product items sold or purchased. They hold inventory on hand, unit costs, and inventory movement transactions. Each variation can only be linked to a single list product.
A classic example is a pair of shoes - the list or parent product. These come in different sizes e.g. US 5, US 8, or US 12 - in this case, each size is a different sku variation to this pair of shoes. All variations of this product share common attributes including description, type, photos, categories, tags, and website HTML body.

Other fields you can enter if needed:
Add product variations
If you haven't already, set up and customise your variant option titles e.g. size, colour, or flavour. To do this, go to Variant option title settings (Settings > Products > Option titles).
Then on the product entry page, enter different variant values (e.g. size 12, red, or strawberry) for each new product variation you add.
To view all variations of a parent list product, click Variations on the left access menu.
Add product images
To configure images for your product, click Images on the left access menu of the product entry page.
Here, you can:
- Upload images (up to 10 at a time; can use drag & drop)
- Delete images no longer needed
- Choose the default image for the product or variation
- Reorder how the images are displayed (useful when uploaded to e-commerce websites)
Set product attributes (status, categories, types, tags)
Status
Defaults to active. If set to archived or draft, it won't be uploaded to sales channels like Shopify or Trade Me. To set up extra statuses, go to Product status settings (Settings > Products > Product status).

Product type
A product classification - this can be the same as your level 1 category. To edit or add types, go to Product type settings (Settings > Products > Product types), or click the pencil icon beside Product type.
A product type can have its own variant title options (see Product variations). If you have a Xero integration, each type can have their own GL accounts that are different to the overall GL set accounts.

Categories
Each list product can have up to 4 levels of categories. Each product type can also have up to 2 custom category titles. To set up category levels, go to Categories settings (Settings > Products > Categories) or click the pencil icon beside Categories.

Set an HTML description
This is the detailed description used for uploading to e-commerce websites. Note that some websites, such as Trade Me, only accept plain text so any HTML tags will be removed automatically.
You can also upload a YouTube video or paste HTML content from a website if needed.
View product transactions
To view transactions for a product, click Transactions on the left access menu of the product entry page.
Another way is on the product information page. Enter or search for the product sku, then click the name of a location. All transactions of the product for that location will be shown.
Sample data upload spreadsheet
Here is an example of a spreadsheet to be uploaded into Qblue. In this sample, the data type is products and the variant option titles are colour and size.
