How do I manage backorders?


Backorders are shown with the status Partfulfilled on the Sales orders page (Sales > Sales orders). For example, if the Order Quantity = 10, and you ship 4 now, the remaining 6 will be listed as Partfulfilled.

To view items on backorder (i.e. reserved stock) and re-order them, go to the Replenish inventory page (Products > Replenish inventory). Once the products are received into stock, you can ship and invoice the Partfulfilled orders the same way you'd process a regular sales order.


On the Sales orders page, here are some helpful viewing options to make managing backorders easier:

  1. View only part fulfilled orders (orders with products on backorder): use the status dropdown list to filter by Part fulfilled.
  2. View only orders with enough available stock: click Stock goods to filter the list.
  3. See which orders have enough available stock: a green checkmark under the Stock good column (last column) indicates the order can be fulfilled in full with current stock.
