What's the difference between packing list and packing slip?

Packing list
Used internally (not for customers) by warehouse staff or pickers during the picking process.

Here's an example of a packing list:

A packing list is printed BEFORE the order is dispatched and invoiced. It can be printed/emailed from editing the sales order, click "Print/Email packing list".

Packing slip / Delivery docket
The final document included with the order dispatch / shipment, showing shipped items and quantities to the customer. It's also known as a delivery docket, delivery note, or final packing list.

Here's an example of a packing slip:

The packing slip is printed during a sales order dispatch. It is a selective option. For example:

Toggling ON "Print packing list" will print out the packing slip when committing the dispatch.  If this option is not toggled ON by default, try ticking "Remember selection" and next time this option will be toggled ON automatically.

To re-print a packing slip after an order is invoiced:

  • Go to "Invoices & credits"
  • Search and bring up an invoice
  • Click Actions
  • Click "Reprint packing list" to reprint the customer's copy of the packing slip
